Scope

Overview

Several Working Groups of ISPRS, ICA and DGfK will organize a joint international Workshop on Visualization and Exploration of Geospatial Data in Stuttgart at the University of Applied Sciences.

The workshop will address the wide-ranging technical, methodical and psychological aspects for representing multi-dimensional geospatial data (with an emphasis on remotely sensed data) on various end user devices (including mobile telephones and PDAs), and for exploring additional knowledge from those visual representations.

Publication

Papers have been published on CD-ROM (ISPRS Archives) and on this website.

Selected papers will be published in the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in early 2008.

Topics

The Workshop topics covered include, but are not exclusive to the following topics:

  • New geovisualization methods for presenting and exploring structures and processes from geospatial data;
  • 3D, 4D and real-time visualization techniques, including façade texturing for rendering 3D city models;
  • Geovisualization of geospatial data reliability and uncertainty;
  • Application of geovisualization techniques, e.g. for environmental, planning and emergency response tasks;
  • Technical advancements and methods for representing geospatial data on various end user devices (such as mobile telephones or PDAs);
  • Empirical investigations concerning psychological aspects of presenting geospatial data and cognative learning from geovisualizations.
  • Locations based services: technology, new applications, user requirements, testing of content provider services.
